If you are unfamiliar with the series, Danmachi is the shortened name of an anime-adapted light novel series (written by Fujino Ōmori) called Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? and follows a 14 year old boy named Bell Cranel as he fights his way through dungeons encountering various monsters along the way. If you are interested, the full series can be found on Crunchyroll.
The long-awaited season 2 of Danmachi has been announced and is scheduled to air sometime during the summer of 2019. The specific date hasn’t been specified but hopefully we can expect it to be released by sometime in August. As good as the first season was though, it wouldn’t be upsetting for the writers to take a bit longer to make sure it is of the best quality (it will be). The new season was announced along with the release of the Danmachi movie, Arrows of Orion. The anime and light novel alike are definitely fan favorites and one that any otaku should have at least given a once-over.
The anime itself may seem like it has a funny name but the story line is anything but a joke. If you like action-adventure anime, you will probably like Danmachi.
For a quick plot synopsis Wikipedia has:
The story follows the exploits of Bell Cranel, a 14-year-old solo adventurer under the goddess Hestia. As the only member of the Hestia Familia, he works hard every day in the dungeon to make ends meet while seeking to improve himself. He looks up to Ais Wallenstein, a famous and powerful swordswoman who once saved his life, and with whom he fell in love. He is unaware that several other girls, deities and mortals alike, also develop affections towards him; most notably Hestia herself, as he also gains allies and improves himself with each new challenge he faces.
Hopefully we will get the release sooner rather than later but as stated, if it takes longer than expected let’s just chalk it up as an improvement in quality of an already fantastic adaptation!
